Abstract of MoU between FinNuclear and NEI

A Memorandum of Understanding between the FinNuclear Association and the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), was signed in the U.S. Commercial Nuclear Mission to Finland on 5th of June 2024.

The MoU was signed by Ms. Maria Korsnick, President and CEO of NEI and by Mr. Harri Varjonen, Executive Director of FinNuclear Association.

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FinNuclear Association (FinNuclear) and the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) establishes a cooperative relationship to achieve nuclear safety while complying with respective national and international regulations. NEI, representing the U.S. nuclear energy industry, and FinNuclear, promoting Finnish companies in the nuclear sector, aim to enhance nuclear energy use and growth through collaborative efforts. The MoU outlines activities such as supporting bilateral trade, encouraging cooperation among various stakeholders, sharing best practices, and addressing mutual interests. The MoU is non-binding, does not interfere with other agreements, and must be implemented in accordance with applicable laws.

The Parties of MoU:

  • NEI: Represents the U.S. nuclear energy industry, setting unified policies on regulatory and technical issues. NEI promotes nuclear energy through efficient operations and effective policy.
  • FinNuclear Association: Promotes Finnish companies in the nuclear sector, enhancing international visibility, business opportunities, and networking.

The Parties will collaborate to:

  1. Facilitate bilateral trade and investment in nuclear energy.
  2. Encourage cooperation among industries, utilities, and educational institutions.
  3. Share best practices and lessons in areas like communication, supply chain development, and professional growth.
  4. Cooperate on other mutual interests.
